Why Your Planner Keeps Breaking(and How to Build One That Lasts)
Most plans are built for your best week. This course helps you build one for your real week, from this week to your whole career.

SOUND FAMILIAR?
You’re not bad at planning. Most plans are built for a week you never get.
“I bought a planner in August. By October, I stopped using it.”
“Due dates keep sneaking up on me.”
“Work gets all my planning. My own goals keep waiting.”
“I’m not sure how many ASHA hours I still need.”
A plan for your best week
Every hour is full. One sick day or surprise meeting, and the whole plan falls apart.
A plan for your real week
It has open time, a backup plan, and a way to start again after a missed week.
HOW IT WORKS
Plan four time frames. Decide first. Then see what the research says.
You start with a quick self-check to find where your planning breaks down. Then, in each module, you meet a speech-language pathologist (SLP), decide first what they need, and check it against the research and ASHA. You build one page of your Plan Pack. Each module shows how it works in schools, private practice, hospitals, and early intervention. You finish by putting your planning rhythm on your calendar.

Who it’s for: SLPs in schools, private practice, hospitals, early intervention, and other settings. Helpful for supervisors and clinical fellows too. Works with any planner, notebook, or app.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Identify their primary planning challenge across work and personal life, using a structured self-check.
- Develop a weekly plan that includes top priorities for work and life, a day and time for each, and at least one if-then plan.
- Apply backward planning and past task times to schedule the steps toward one monthly deadline.
- Write yearly professional and personal priorities that each include a first step and a check-in date.
- Calculate their remaining ASHA certification maintenance hours, including required ethics and cultural competence hours, and write one professional learning goal with measurable steps.
